PCAT Chemistry

Testing time - 30 minutes. This section follows the biology section.

Number of questions - 48 multiple-choice questions

Students are expected to have basic factual and practical knowledge about the following in order to answer the questions of this section.

A quick example would be... which of the following statements in relation to the hydrogen atom is correct: 3s orbital is lower in energy than 3p orbital; 3p orbital is lower in energy than 3d orbital; 3s and 3p orbitals are of lower energy than 3d orbital; 3s, 3p and 3d orbitals all have the same energy. The answer would be 3p and 3d orbitals all have the same energy.

A short break of around 10-20 minutes is administered after the chemistry section after which, the testing is resumed from the second writing section.
